What if Goku Has a System and In Solo Leveling Chapter 1

Before the multiverse had fully formed, there existed a dimension beyond the reach of any god or mortal—a realm of endless nothingness known as the Void Realm. It was a place outside the 13 known universes, untouched even by the supreme authority of the Omni-King, Zeno. Within this abyss, primordial entities known as the Eternals dwelled beings of incomprehensible power, older than creation itself.

Among them stood the most feared of all: Erexis, the Devourer.

A monstrous being of insatiable hunger, Erexis sought not just to exist but to dominate, to consume all that lay before him. Unlike the angels, who served the Grand Priest, or the gods who upheld order, Erexis thrived on chaos. His power was said to rival Zeno himself, for both were the first two entities forged from the birth of reality, created by the very explosion that birthed existence—the Big Bang.

But unlike Zeno, Erexis did not believe in mere existence. He believed in absolute rule.

His goal was simple: conquer the multiverse, devour its gods, and reshape it in his image.

A War of Eternity

Erexis, refusing to bow before Zeno’s authority, waged a war unlike anything reality had seen. He unleashed his army of Eternals, monstrous beings who existed beyond the natural order, each one a walking catastrophe. The multiverse trembled as divine and infernal forces clashed—Angels against Eternals. Zeno against Erexis.

The battle raged for millennia. Entire universes were erased in the conflict. Dimensions crumbled. Worlds burned in the crossfire.

But in the end, Zeno emerged victorious.

The Eternals were annihilated, their existence wiped from history, leaving Erexis as the last of his kind. But unlike lesser beings, Erexis was immortal, just like Zeno. He could not be erased. The Omni-King’s greatest ability—the power to erase anything—simply did not work on him.

So, Zeno did the next best thing.

He sealed Erexis away, imprisoning him within the Void Realm, turning it into an eternal prison where the Devourer would remain for all time.

A Plan for Revenge

But Erexis did not despair. He schemed.

For countless eons, he plotted, knowing that as long as time moved forward, an opportunity would come. If he could not escape through force, he would escape through influence.

He created a mechanism—a construct far more insidious than any army, more patient than any warrior.

A System.

This System would not simply find him a host—it would cultivate one, forge the perfect vessel capable of containing his divine essence. A warrior strong enough to withstand the weight of his power, one whose very existence would bring about his rebirth.

But not as a separate entity.

No. The host would not unleash Erexis.

The host would become Erexis.

And so, the System waited, hidden within the multiverse, seeking a worthy champion.

It did not have to wait long.

The scene shifts. The chaotic battlefield of the Tournament of Power stretches infinitely, a floating construct of shattered rock and cosmic energy, where the strongest warriors of the surviving universes battle for survival.

In the center of it all stands Son Goku.

His body trembles beneath the weight of the Spirit Bomb—a massive, crackling sphere of pure energy, forged from the combined strength of his allies. His arms strain, veins bulging, muscles screaming. The pressure beneath his feet cracks the stone, sending shards spiraling into the void.

Across from him, standing still as a monolith, is Jiren the Gray.

A warrior of unimaginable might. A being who dwarfs even gods in sheer power.

Jiren doesn’t move. He merely raises a hand.

Goku grits his teeth. “I won’t let it go!” he roars, golden light bursting around him as he forces his energy into the attack. Super Saiyan Blue ignites, his power surging in a final, desperate push.

The Spirit Bomb lurches forward.

Jiren’s fingers twitch. The sphere halts.

Then, with the causal press of his palm, Jiren shoves it back.

Goku’s eyes widened. The overwhelming force is too much. His feet skid backward, the ground beneath him disintegrating. The sphere inches closer, radiating unbearable heat. His hands burn against its power.

From the stands, Krillin yells, “GOKU! MOVE!”

But there is nowhere to go.

The Spirit Bomb collapses, swallowing Goku whole. A blinding explosion erupts, engulfing the battlefield in white light.

The Tournament of Power stage trembles. The fighters shield their eyes. For a moment, all sound vanishes.

And then—

(SYSTEM ACTIVATED.)

A voice rings out, however, Goku is distracted by the sphere, trying to keep it from killing him.

Goku gritted his teeth, his body burning as he struggled within the collapsing Spirit Bomb. The swirling energy of the attack crushed him, its power folding in on itself like a dying star. Every fiber of his being screamed in agony.

“I won’t let it end like this!” he roared, but his voice barely reached beyond the storm of energy surrounding him.

He thought of Chi-Chi. Gohan. Goten. His friends. His entire universe.

If he died here, they all died with him.

His heartbeat thundered in his ears. His veins bulged, his muscles strained, but it wasn’t enough. Jiren’s power was overwhelming.

“I need more strength,” he thought desperately. “I’d give anything for more power—anything!”

And then, everything went black.

Goku’s eyes snapped open.

There was no light. No ground beneath his feet. No sound.

Just endless darkness stretching in all directions.

“Is this… Otherworld?” he thought. “Am I dead?”

He looked around, his senses struggling to make sense of his surroundings, but there was nothing—just an empty void.

Then, something unexpected happened.

A bright panel appeared before him, floating in midair like some kind of holographic screen. The text was crisp, glowing in soft blue letters.

(System Analyzing… Host Identified. Host: Son Goku. Scanning: 1%… 20%…)

Goku’s eyes widened as the progress bar climbed higher.

“W-What in the world?” he muttered.

(100% Scan Complete. System Fully Activated. Welcome, Goku. You have been chosen by the System.)

A second panel popped up, overlaying the first.

(Do you desire the power you so desperately crave?)

Goku flinched as his surroundings suddenly shifted. The darkness peeled away, and in an instant, he found himself back in the Tournament of Power arena.

But something was wrong.

Everything was frozen.

Jiren stood still, his expression unreadable. The fighters in the stands—Krillin, Piccolo, Vegeta, even Zeno himself—were motionless. Even the dust particles in the air had stopped moving.

Goku looked around in shock. He could see their faces, the sorrow in their eyes as they believed he had died, consumed by his own attack.

He reached out toward Chi-Chi, standing in the spectator stands. His fingers trembled as they stretched toward her, but—

His hand passed right through her.

“What the—?” He tried again. Same result. It was like he was a ghost.

Goku clenched his fists, his breath coming in short bursts. “Let me out of here!” he shouted, his rage boiling over.

(Yes, but first, you must make a choice.)

The System’s voice was calm, almost indifferent.

(Now, I will ask again: Do you desire power? The power to save your friends from certain death?)

Another panel materialized, presenting two options:

(YES or NO)

Goku’s brows furrowed. “If I say no?” he asked.

(Time will resume. The Spirit Bomb’s detonation will proceed as fate intended. You, and Universe 7, will be erased from existence.)

The words sent a chill down his spine. His entire universe—gone.

He looked at the YES option. His hand hovered over it, hesitating.

But something about this “System” was bothering him.

“You’re supposed to be like one of those computer things, right?” he asked. “The ones Bulma loves to tinker with?”

The glowing panel before Goku’s eyes suddenly flashed red, and a timer appeared in bold numbers, counting down from 10 seconds. It was as if the system didn’t like goku’s comment earlier.

Goku’s eyes widened. “What? You’re rushing me now?” His voice wavered as he glared at the timer, his fingers twitching with uncertainty. He started pacing, his mind racing. “If I pick no, I’m gone for sure. But if I pick yes… I’ll get this incredible power? There’s gotta be a catch.”

He clenched his fists, staring at the glowing panel as if it might give him answers. “Why me? Why give me all this power? What’s in it for you?”

Goku looked up toward the void, as though the System were watching him from somewhere above. “Hey, System! You’re offering to help me, but—why?”

The System’s voice returned, its tone cold and flat.

(The System does not understand what you mean. The System is a computational entity. It is not motivated by emotions.)

It sounded detached, but Goku noticed a faint edge of irritation.

“What?” Goku frowned. “Don’t be like that. I didn’t mean anything bad by it.” He raised his hands defensively, his voice softening. “Look, I take it back, okay? It’s just—this is a big decision. I need answers!”

The countdown ticked lower.

(5… 4… 3…)

“Alright, alright! Fine!” Goku blurted, his voice laced with panic. He slammed his hand forward. “I choose yes!”

The timer vanished, replaced by a new message.

(Your answer has been saved. All your transformations and strength will be removed to grant you two ultimate skills. Tap YES to accept or NO to decline.)

Goku’s eyes widened in shock. “Wait—what? Remove my strength? My transformations? I’m supposed to be gaining power, not losing it!” He stepped back, his voice rising. “What kind of deal is this?!”

A small info icon appeared on the side of the glowing panel—a tiny “i” symbol commonly seen in games. Goku tilted his head, confused.

“What’s this thing?” he muttered, his finger hovering over it. “This wasn’t here before…”

He tapped the icon.

Instantly, a new panel materialized before him, lines of text scrolling across the blue surface.

(To proceed, the user must sacrifice all experience, techniques, transformations, and abilities. In exchange, the user will obtain two divine skills. These skills are essential for growth and will provide the potential to surpass your current power.)

Goku’s jaw tightened as he read the words. His mind reeled. “So… if I accept, I’ll be stronger than I am now?” His voice was quiet, almost uncertain.

He muttered to himself as doubt gnawed at him. “But giving up my abilities, my transformations? That’s what makes me who I am. It’s everything I’ve worked for…”

As if in response to his hesitation, a new notification icon appeared in the corner of the screen. It wasn’t a popup this time, but a flashing red symbol in the menu tab.

Curious, Goku reached out and tapped the icon. A single message displayed across the screen, its text highlighted in gold.

(Notification: All skills, transformations, and techniques will be fully regained through the System as the host progresses.)

Goku froze. “This thing’s reading my mind,” he muttered, his expression torn between suspicion and relief.

The System’s voice returned, sharper this time.

(This “thing”?)

It paused, as if annoyed.

(The System has a name. It is called “Great Sage.”)

“Great Sage?” Goku smirked, despite the tension in the air. “Oh, so you’re a smart computer, huh?”

The countdown reappeared on the screen, its numbers blazing.

(5… 4…)

“Okay, okay, relax! I was just joking!” Goku waved his hands in surrender. “Geez, you’ve got a short fuse, don’t you?”

The timer dropped lower. Without another word, Goku’s hand shot out, pressing the YES button.

The System responded instantly.

(System analyzing response… Host Goku has chosen YES. Process activated. All transformations, abilities, and techniques will now be converted to create two ultimate skills.)

The words barely registered before Goku felt it—a sudden, overwhelming surge of pain.

His heartbeat thundered in his chest, each thump like an explosion inside him. His knees buckled, and he dropped to the ground, gasping for air. Steam erupted from his body, rising in thick, hissing clouds as though his very being was burning away.

“What’s happening?!” Goku cried, clutching his chest. “This… this isn’t normal!”

His skin glowed faintly, his veins bulging with raw energy. His vision blurred as waves of heat pulsed through him. The once-frozen arena around him flickered in and out of view, flashes of time and space bleeding together.

“Great Sage! What’s going on?!” he shouted, his voice strained. “Why does it feel like my whole body’s tearing itself apart?!”

The System replied calmly, unaffected by his cries.

(The host’s body is undergoing reconstruction. Strength, transformations, and techniques are being extracted to forge the ultimate skills.)

“Extracted?!” Goku winced as another wave of searing energy shot through him. He gritted his teeth, forcing himself to speak. “You could’ve warned me about this part!”

(The process is necessary. Endurance is advised.)

Goku’s body trembled as the heat intensified, his screams echoing into the void. He slammed his fists into the ground, trying to push through the pain.

But his voice never faltered.

“I… I’m not giving up! If this makes me stronger—if this saves everyone—I’ll… I’ll take it!”

The System’s voice responded with an almost approving tone.

(“Congratulations. Conversion was a success. The user now possesses the ultimate skill: Gate.”)

A glowing blue panel materialized before him, filled with detailed text.

(“Gate – A high-tier dimensional magic skill. This ability allows the user to tear open a shimmering portal between realities. By focusing on a specific coordinate—be it in the same world or another dimension—Gate can instantly transport the caster (and any approved companions) to the chosen destination. This power demands significant energy and precision; misuse can lead to unstable rifts or accidental travel to dangerous, unknown realms.”)

Goku’s eyes widened. “Wait… a portal ability? Like Instant Transmission, but across different dimensions? That’s insane!”

Before he could process it further, another notification flashed.

(“Congratulations. The user now possesses the ultimate skill: Gluttony.”)

(“Gluttony – A devouring-type skill that allows the user to absorb the stats, skills, and essence of any opponent they consume—foe or ally. Upon defeating a target (or willingly using it on a comrade), the user ‘eats’ their victim’s power, transferring the conquered individual’s strength, knowledge, or even special abilities to themselves. However, the boundless hunger of Gluttony can corrupt the user, blurring the line between morality and power as they grow ever stronger with each soul devoured.”)

Goku’s face twisted in disbelief. “Wait, what?! Eat people’s powers?” His stomach churned at the thought. “That… doesn’t sound like something I’d do.”

(“Gluttony is a necessity. Without it, the user will struggle to keep up with the challenges ahead. Survival is not guaranteed.”)

Goku narrowed his eyes. “So, you’re telling me I can get stronger by absorbing others… but at what cost?”

The System did not reply.

Instead, a new prompt appeared.

(“Gate skill activated. Please choose one from the three dimensions available for travel.”)

Goku rubbed his head. “Wait, hold on. Dimensions?”

He was familiar with different universes—from Universe 1 to Universe 13—but dimensions? The only one he had ever seen was the Hyperbolic Time Chamber, which was more of a pocket reality than an actual dimension.

He tapped the Gate skill tab, and immediately, three options appeared.

  • 1. Reincarnated as a Slime
  • 2. Overlord
  • 3. Solo Leveling

Goku squinted at the first option and burst out laughing. “Reincarnated as a Slime?!” He shook his head. “Who would want to go to a world full of slimes? Pass.”

He swiped to the second option and frowned. “Overlord…” The name alone made his instincts scream bad news. “Sounds evil…”

Finally, he scrolled to the last option.

Solo Leveling.

The description flickered onto the screen.

“A world overrun by powerful monsters and humans with extraordinary skills. Gods and Monarchs wage war in the shadows. The strong devour the weak. The system governs all.”

Goku crossed his arms, deep in thought. “A world of strong fighters, huh? That sounds like a good challenge…”

Just as he was about to take his time thinking—

The System flashed red.

(“Countdown initiated. Please select a world before the timer reaches zero.”)

A 10-second timer appeared once again, ticking down aggressively.

Goku groaned, running a hand through his hair. “Again?! Why do you love to rush me?!”

With no time to think, he tapped the Solo Leveling option.

(“The user has chosen the world of Solo Leveling.”)

A deep hum vibrated through the void as space itself tore open before Goku. A massive shimmering portal crackled with unknown energy, swirling with dark hues of blue and violet.

The System’s voice echoed once more.

(“A dimensional rift has been created. The user may now travel to the chosen world.”)

Goku narrowed his eyes. “And once I go, I can’t pick another world?”

(“Correct. Once the user crosses over, they cannot leave until the selected world has been completed.”)

Goku’s brows furrowed. “Completed?”

(“The user must fulfill all quests assigned by the System. Only then will they be allowed to return to this exact time and moment, with all the power they have acquired. That is… if they manage to survive.”)

Goku froze.

“If I survive?!” he shouted. “Just what kind of world am I going to?!”

The portal roared, pulling him in—

Goku barely had time to process what had just happened before a flashing red alert appeared in front of him.

(“System Alert: All your stats have been reset. You are now Level 1.”)

His body stiffened as he read the message, a sinking feeling settling in his gut.

(“Current Stats: Strength: 10. Agility: 10. Speed: 10. Vitality: 10. Intelligence: 10”)

Goku’s eyes widened in shock. “Wait, what?! I’m level one?!” He flexed his arms, expecting to feel his usual explosive strength, but all he got was… nothing.

His body felt light—too light. His speed, his power, even his reflexes—they were gone.

The System’s voice returned, completely indifferent to his panic.

(**”Skills acquired: Gluttony and Gate.” “Abilities: None. Transformations: None.”)

Goku’s stomach dropped.

“None?! You mean I lost everything?!” he shouted, gripping his head in frustration. “No Kaioken?! No Super Saiyan?! No Ultra Instinct?! Nothing?!”

(“Correct.”)

Goku gritted his teeth. “Oh, come on! How am I supposed to fight like this?!”

Before he could argue further, the Gate skill activated.

A massive shimmering portal ripped open before him, crackling with dark energy. The inside was a swirling storm of pure chaotic energy, radiating power unlike anything Goku had ever felt.

He staggered back. “Whoa, whoa, you expect me to just jump into that?!”

He crossed his arms, shaking his head. “No way.”

Just then, a strange object materialized in his hand—a key. It pulsed with power, dark energy flowing through its metallic surface.

(“You have unlocked the Key to the Demon Castle.”)

Goku stared at the key in confusion. “Demon Castle? What the heck is that supposed to mean?”

Then, before he could even question it further, a new notification bar appeared.

(“Main Quest Unlocked.” A Deadly Mission)

(“Objective: Defeat Jinwoo and clear Solo Leveling.”)

Goku froze. “Wait—Jinwoo?!”

He recognized that name from the description earlier. The strongest Hunter in Solo Leveling. A guy who took down gods and Monarchs. The same guy from the manhwa his son Goten loves to read so much.

Goku’s face twisted in confusion. “Hold up. You expect me to fight that guy at level one?!”

Before he could even finish processing that, another message flashed.

(“New Main Quest Unlocked.” “Objective: Clear the entire Demon King’s Castle.” “Quest Reward: Unknown. XP: Unknown.”)

Goku deadpanned. “Oh, come on!”

Before he could complain further, the System hit him with another warning.

(“Gate will close in 10 seconds. Failure to enter before time expires will result in a Penalty Quest.”)

Goku felt his blood run cold.

“Penalty quest?” He didn’t know what that meant, but knowing the System so far, it wasn’t going to be fun.

He swiped open the skill tab, desperately trying to switch to another world—Overlord.

But the System shut him down.

(“All other worlds are locked. To gain access to other worlds, you must complete the Main Quest: Defeat Jinwoo.”)

The countdown reached 3 seconds.

Goku clenched his fists. He had no choice.

“Screw it!” he shouted as he leaped through the portal.
